Evidence Retrieval
In addition to conducting origin and cause investigations, Pyr-Tech's investigators will collect and maintain evidence to support the findings of the investigation. This includes any item involved in the fire and considered relevant to the investigation. Pyr-Tech's investigators also have the capability of extracting engine oil and transmission fluid from vehicles, as well as steering columns and locking mechanisms. In addition, we are capable of collecting debris from floorboards of vehicles using the "Scoop Method."
Pyr-Tech,
Inc. retains items collected as evidence until a signed destroy notice is received from the adjuster on file or a representative of the company.
The evidence is stored in a secure facility monitored by an alarm company for both intrusion and fire for ultimate protection. Evidence kept past 90 days will be charged a quarterly storage fee. This fee is based on the size of the item and will be billed every 90 days until the evidence is no longer required.

Our agency
maintains a constant relationship with other experts such as engineers
and forensic laboratories to evaluate evidence and circumstances
surrounding fire losses. The samples can be shipped directly from the
Pyr-Tech Evidence Storage Facility to the appropriate laboratory.
