Mr. H. Douglas Brown, IAAI-CFI
Vice President
Mr. Brown, Vice President and co-owner, is a Pennsylvania
native who has lived in the St. Louis Metropolitan area since 1960.Brown began his careers in business and
aeronautics by gaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Parks
College of Aeronautical Technology in 1963.The following year, he married Pyr-Tech Office Manager
Carolyn Brown.
From
1964 through 1994, Brown was employed as a cartographer at the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace
Center (DMAAC) in St. Louis, Missouri.While at DMAAC, he was also acting as the Area Fire Marshal and
Department Safety Representative, among other positions. Brown served on various fire departments during his employment at DMAAC, including the Camp Jackson
Volunteer Fire Department, the Cahokia Volunteer Fire Department, the Maryville
Fire Protection District and the Maryville Volunteer Fire Department.While at the Cahokia Volunteer Fire
Department, he was Director of the Arson Bureau, Captain and Chief
Inspector.
Brown
joined Pyr-Tech in its year of incorporation in 1978 as a consultant.He would climb the ranks to Field
Supervisor, Chief Investigator and finally to Vice President in 1994.Over the years, Brown joined forces
with more than 55 different schools and organizations to further fire
investigative education as a lecturer and instructor. He was a member and eventually appointed to the board of the Illinois Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention.

In
1966, Brown joined the Centreville Township Fireman's Association and has been
active in many other professional and society organizations ever since.In 1971, he joined both the National
Fire Protection Association and the Fire Marshal?s Association North
America.In 1973, he joined the
International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and later served on the
Illinois Chapter Board of Directors and as the Illinois Chapter Vice
President.Brown also became a
member of the Southern Illinois Arson Investigators Association (SIAIA) in 1974
where is he would serve as President from 1990 through 1992. He would also serve as Chairman of the Annual SIAIA Seminar for 17 years. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Arson Investigators, the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators (NSPII) and the NSPII Missouri Chapter.

Brown has investigated the
origin and cause in more than 1,000 fires all over the United States.His testimony as an expert witness has
been used in both civil and criminal trials in both the State and Federal court
systems.In 1982, Brown became one
of only 12 people in the United States to be appointed as Certified Fire
Investigator by completing the required certification requirements laid forth
by the IAAI.
Through
the years, Brown has been awarded for his many accomplishments.In 1977, he received the SIAIA "Flame
Award" for his outstanding achievements and in 1985 he accepted their "Golden
Flame Award" for continued outstanding service over the years.While at DMAAC, he was honored with an "Excellence in Security" for his significant contributions as the Department
Security Monitor.The SIAIA also
granted Brown a Life Membership into their organization.
Brown
strived to ensure his career was successful and used his achievements to help
others' careers prosper.He
continues to make certain Pyr-Tech remains one of the most successful and reputable
fire investigative organizations in the United States.
